Model Dies of Anorexia
Pressures of Modeling
In the modeling industry where the pressure to be thin is so intense, models have become obsessed on the idea of becoming skinny. It all started when Isabelle Caro was 13 years old, when a fashion designer told her that she needed to lose weight if she wanted to be in the fashion industry. Isabelle said that she started to stop eating in order to lose weight to become a model. This was the beginning of the end of Isabelle Caro.
Wake up Call
Isabelle had a rude awakening as to how Anorexia was slowly killing her when she ended up in the hospital with a Coma in 2005. It was a wake up call for her, and she said “I have to do something” about her Anorexia. Isabelle decided to move to Southern France to seek medical help and start her road to recovery.
Anti-Anorexia Campaign
Isabelle gained international fame in 2007 when she first starred in an Italian anti-anorexia campaigns, which showed pictures of her emaciated body only weighing in at around 62 pounds. She participated in these shocking ads to bring awareness of the ugly side of Anorexia. Isabelle knew how unhealthy she was, how unhealthy she looked and felt. Isabelle was too weak and frail, and she knew that she had to do something to educate women across the world about the dangers of anorexia.
Effects of Anorexia
Anorexia can cause many harmful things to the body. When the body doesn’t get enough food, it goes into starvation mode. The body ends up consuming itself which leads to many medical and painful complications.
In late November of 2010, French model Isabelle Caro died of Anorexia. She was only 28 years old.
