Quick Workout
Short on time? I think we can all relate…but just remember this: A quick workout is better than NO workout. There have been crazy-busy days where I just don’t have a half-hour or an hour to go to the gym to do a warm up, stretch, workout, cool down, and then stretch again. On days like that, I focus on just getting a quick workout in. You may think that it’s worthless, but it’s really not. Research shows you can achieve more progress in a mere 15 minutes of interval training (done three times a week) than the girl jogging on the treadmill for an hour. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT or just Interval Training) is a GREAT way to get or stay in shape for those who have limited amount of time to dedicate to working out. Feel...

“If you can’t eat it responsibly, keep it out of your house” The other day I was about to buy some delicious cookies. They’re made with natural ingredients, so I buy them every so often, but I still wouldn’t consider them “healthy” since they still have sugar. I mean, they are cookies! It’s a nice “once in a while” treat. These cookies taste AMAZING – which means I have a hard time controlling the amount that I eat. So when I am trying to lose weight, these cookies just don’t belong in my house. It’s just too easy to turn to them when I am hungry, craving something yummy, or too tired to make something. You know yourself, and if you can’t eat a not-so-healthy food item responsibly, just keep it out of your house. Don’t sabotage your...

Read MoreWeekends and Weight Loss
So many people who are trying to lose weight will do really well during the week (eating healthy and exercising), but then when the weekends come…it’s free game! When they weigh-in on Monday, they wonder why they haven’t lost any weight. Sound familiar? Here’s how the weekends can ruin all of your efforts during the week: To lose a pound of fat, you need to omit or burn 3,500 calories. Even if you were exercising and eating healthy ALL WEEK LONG – if you ate whatever you wanted on the weekends…you could EASILY eat an extra 3,500 calories in two days. Doughnuts for breakfast? You’re looking at about 200-400 calories each. And after eating one, you’re still going to be hungry. Chances are, the sugar cravings are in overdrive and BAM! You just ate another doughnut. Oops. At this...
